AYAHUASCA
UNDERSTAND THIS ENTHEOGEN
Ayahuasca can be beneficial for depression, addiction, anxiety, and PTSD. It shows benefits to creativity, openness, and spiritual growth.
Ayahuasca is a decoction of the Amazonian vine Banisteriopsis caapi. Its chemical ingredients are known as harmalines. Some ethnic and religious groups add the Psychotria viridis plant to ayahuasca, which has visionary effects and whose active component is dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
The word “ayahuasca” is a Quechua term composed of two words: aya, which means “corpse, dead, dead human body” and waskha, which means “rope, cord, braided or twisted wire.” Thus, it has commonly been translated as “the vine of the dead” or “the rope of the dead.” From Iceers.com
DMT is a 5-HT2A serotonergic receptor agonist and its effects are described as being similarly to those of the so-called “classical psychedelics” (LSD, psilocybin, mescaline). DMT, when not administered in combination with MAOIs and taken intravenously or smoked, produces intense and immediate effects, including:
The effects produced by ayahuasca can include:
Ayahuasca is illegal under federal law because it typically contains DMT, a Schedule I substance. However, some religious groups have been granted the right to use ayahuasca for rituals by federal courts.
The federal government also considers tribal land sovereign and able to self-govern, so you should be fine to try this compound as long as you are on their land. In addition, there are a few states where ayahuasca has been decriminalized, including Oregon and Washington, and certain cities in California or Michigan as well. It is likely that other communities will legalize the compound in the near future!
That’s where Decriminalize Nature comes in!
We are working tirelessly around the country to decriminalize ayahuasca and other entheogens and promoting the grow – gather – gift model for sharing nature’s bounties.
