DN’s approach is hence characterized by a skillful braiding of all three Aristotelian modes of persuasion: logos (scientific facts and rational arguments), ethos (credibility of the speaker), and pathos (emotional personal accounts). While pathos also matters for the success of the biomedicalization imaginary, especially when mobilizing personal accounts of study participants to gain support from non-regulatory audiences, its role is more essential for persuading the decision-makers at city council meetings.
